staff CHICAS Gap - Sisteron in action.
past two years (merging hospitals Gap and Sisteron), the site staff Sisteron fights to denounce the lack of staff in their hospital.
Since June 2007, the Inter CHICAS (Centre Hospitalier Inter-Communal Southern Alps) warns employees of the measures envisaged by the Directorate to reduce the lack of announced 4 5 million Euros : Elimination of your monthly substitution changes in working hours, non-renewal of contracts and retirements, closing surgical ward weekend. The staff, already many efforts over several years (under-staffing in certain recurring services, services not provided by personal carers shifts tasks to administrative tasks, saving on the required security, sick leave are not replaced over periods more and longer ...) felt again as the easy fuse to blow.
Indeed, much of this deficit comes from a decrease in activity of certain services, something that is not the responsibility of non-medical caregivers. In addition, all hospitals in France faced a deficit more or less important, proof if necessary that we try to blame us in our structures, while the problem is national and maintained by successive governments. But what's easier than taking on those who never say anything ...
In January, faced with the imminent implementation of these measures, especially against the risk of living again worsening the quality of care, a petition drafted by a group of caregivers asked staff to successfully face this crisis, and collected over 85% of signatures in a week and a half.
Was then formed the Collective Staff Angry chic.
Since then, we multiply the steps in collaboration with the Inter- our school around three axes:
an internal axis (day strikes, walkouts, meetings with management and physicians, ...) to "educate" our direction to the many problems that generate financial losses and whose non-medical caregivers are not responsible (eg patients who are transferred to other institutions for lack of space, so that beds are available at the hospital, some doctors refusing to perform accommodations; time slots operating misused by surgeons). So that our action is not sterile, we work with doctors on writing proposals to correct these defects. These proposals also allow us to question ourselves about our practices that are also generating expenses (examples: the misuse of supplies, poor management of waste in our services). And we intend to show that we are involved in the life of our school and before to make savings by eliminating personnel, we'd better avoid unnecessary expenses.
A local axis (information through media, market presence with an explanation and signing petitions, meeting with elected officials and local candidates), to inform the population Hautes-Alpes and pelvis Sisteronnais that his health is endangered by the measures announced.
A national focus (meeting with MPs and senators from both departments, contact with other hospitals), we are now trying to develop, to unite all staff in hospitals of France who are victims of the successive policies of destruction of public health service.
We, Personal CHICA, are particularly determined not to give up and defend by all means possible tool for our work, our professions so little regarded, and spirit of our public hospital.
Today we call on all those and others, caring medical or nonmedical, administrative or technical staff who experience the same feelings of rebellion, who are already struggling or are willing to join, to unite and act together.
Let our struggles, to the streets for the loud and clear our rejection of the dismantling of the public hospital, our refusal to lack of considerations of our professions, our refusal to see the quality of our care deteriorate to an issue of economies, our rejection of endangered population in our care.
Let us unite and let us fight for ourselves, our families, our patients, for the people who count on us!
Unite and fight us now, because very soon it will be too late!
