To mark the 22th "anniversary" of the Chernobyl disaster, Saturday, April 26, 2008, a group of activists involved in the international day of mobilization against nuclear coordinated by the Réseau "Sortir du nucléaire", a tribute to the thousands of victims of the worst industrial accident in history, and all the nameless victims of the atom.

Everywhere in France and Europe, demonstrators wearing the same mask will remain motionless in front of civilian and military nuclear sites, company headquarters pronuclear, ministries, prefectures, town halls, etc..

The operation, called "Masks for Chernobyl Day", intended to recall that two decades later, the Chernobyl disaster is still valid. And it will remain so, alas, for centuries.

If the nuclear lobby and politicians who support it argue that, more than 20 years later, Chernobyl is now ancient history, one might think, instead, it is important not forget this tragedy:

· because it is likely to recur as a single plant will be running somewhere on the planet,

· because far from a done deal, the Chernobyl disaster shows health consequences worsen from year to year, with a lot of cancers in adults and children, genetic malformations ...
